WHO WE ARE

In 1957, employees of the city of Galveston Fire Department formed the Galveston Firemen’s Federal Credit Union. In 1973, the name was changed to the City of Galveston Federal Credit Union, which allowed all city employees of Galveston to join. In 1991, the credit union purchased the bank building located at 2302 Church Street, allowing us to expand our services to our growing membership.

On August 28, 2000, the credit union amended its charter to include individuals who reside, work, worship, or attend school in Galveston County. To identify, our name was changed to COASTAL COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.

As of June 11, 2025, the credit union updated its charter also to include people who live, work, worship, or attend school in a concentrated census tract area surrounding our CE Branch at 7002 Fauna St. in Houston.

What began as a $5 investment for 13 firefighters in 1957 has now grown into a thriving, full-service financial institution with over $97 million in assets and more than 13,000 members.

Our mission today is the same as that of our founders: “We are proud to uphold the ‘people helping people’ motto while providing affordable financial services.”
